Illustrator contest

Want your artwork featured in a Jolly Dutch game?

Has it always been a dream of yours to design the artwork for a game? This is your opportunity! At Jolly Dutch we like to give upcoming talent a chance to enter the board game world. This is why last year we already held a competition for new card game ideas. We were positively surprised with all of the creative entries. The design contest was so successful that we are multiple of these entrees will be published by us this year. Now we would also like to offer illustrators a platform into the board game world. That’s why we are now organizing this illustrator contest!

Wat does this illustrator contest encompass?

We are looking for unique illustrations for a small card game featuring 110 cards. Numbers will be fundamental to this card game. To make the cards more visually appealing we want to incorporate different worlds within these numbers. Eventually we are going to need five unique worlds, but for this contest we are asking you to design just one of them. If we like your design best we will offer you a competitive contract or royalty’s to design the other four worlds! Your entry will remain your property until we agree a contract. More information on what kind of design we are looking for can be found here: download creative briefing.

What are the requirements?

A detailed overview of the requirements can be found in the creative briefing. The requirements in short are:

• Illustrations have to be designed in Illustrator or Photoshop
• You have to work with adjustable layers
• The measurement of the cards are 58 x 88 mm, but the file has to be at least 1370 x 2079 pixels
• Your entree can be submitted as a pdf, png or jpg.
• The winner has to be available from 4 to 25 March to design the other worlds
• Your entry will remain your property until we agree a contract

How do I participate?

Send your design at the latest on 28 February to illustrator@jollydutch.com with your design in pdf, png of jpg and with optionally your portfolio in the appendix. We publish at least 6 card games each year, so if you add your portfolio we will keep this in our database for future game designs.
